5 July 2020
We regret to share the news that the IAYG/IGU-YECG Paper Session, one of the events scheduled at the 34th International Geographical Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, has been postponed to 2021 due to the 2019-2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
The International Geographic Union decided to postpone the 34th International Geographic Congress (IGC) in Istanbul by one year in response to the health risks posed. Likewise, all registration fees, abstracts, and travel grants have also been carried over to the 2021 IGC. Following the IGU, the IAYG Family and the IGU-YECG will push back program partnerships to when health risks and conditions have improved. However, the IAYG Family and the IGU-YECG have been in discussions about virtual programming moving into 2021, as a way for young and early career geographers to still connect with each other and conduct collaborative research from home despite the trying times. We will provide more information as soon as a decision has been made.
